SAINT ROSE DEFEATS STAC 12-8

Badour Reaches Century Mark in Non-Conference Victory

SPARKILL, N.Y. –The College of Saint Rose got out to a 5-1 lead en route to this afternoon's 12-8 win at Saint Thomas Aquinas.

Senior attack Carter Badour fired home a feed from sophomore attack Jack Pemrick 37 seconds in to get the Golden Knights (4-7) going early. The marker was the 100th career goal for the Saint Rose co-captain. Badour, just the second Golden Knight to reach the century mark, finished with two goals and an assist to move past Kevin Fleming '15 for second on the Saint Rose career scoring list.

"I'm happy that we came down here and took care of business," said Saint Rose Head Coach Jim Morrissey. "STAC plays a very tough zone defense and has a great goalie."

Junior attack Jordyn Marchiano  topped the Golden Knights, who led 12-5 midway through the final period, with four goals. Pemrick equaled a career-high with four points, a goal and three assists.

Senior midfielder Nicolas Johnson went 20-of-21 on face-offs and led all players with 17 groundballs, while sophomore goalie Matthew Gill made ten saves to earn the win in goal.

Junior attack Tyler Senatore led Saint Thomas Aquinas (4-5) with four goals. Senior goalie Ryan Mello stopped 18 Saint Rose shots in defeat.

Both teams return to conference play on Saturday. The Golden Knights will host #17 Assumption at 6:00 pm. The home finale will serve as the program's "Senior Night". STAC travels to Rockville Centre, N.Y. to play Molloy at noon.
Notes: Johnson entered the game second nationally with a Northeast-10 Conference-best 12.50 groundballs per game…He had won 68.5 percent of his face-offs, which was good for ninth in the country and second in the NE10…Badour, second on the Saint Rose career scoring list with 133 points, is also second in program annals with 101 goals.
