ALBANY, N.Y. – The College of Saint Rose scored the first 12 goals of today's 23-5 Northeast-10 Conference victory vs. American International.
Senior attack
Carter Badour led the Golden Knights (2-5/1-4 NE10) with ten points. The co-captain scored four goals and dished out a program-record six assists. Junior attack
Jordyn Marchiano added four goals and an assist for the victors.
Senior midfielder
Nicolas Johnson, who entered the game among the national leaders in multiple statistical categories, went a perfect 11-for-11 on face-offs. He gathered 11 groundballs to lead all players.
Freshman goalie Owen Anzalone stopped 13 American International shots to earn his first collegiate win.
Freshman attack Rusty Stone topped the Yellow Jackets (0-10/0-5 NE10) with two goals.
NE10 action continues on Saturday afternoon. Saint Rose travels to Pleasantville, N.Y. to face #6 Pace University at noon. American International hosts #4 Merrimack, the defending national champions, at 5:00 pm.
Notes: Johnson won the opening face-off and fed Marchiano for a goal, just five seconds into today's game...The tally tied the NCAA record for fastest goal to start a game...The Golden Knights, coming off their best season to date, have played the 20
th-toughest schedule thus far...Johnson was named to Tuesday's NE10 weekly honor roll…The program's all-time groundballs leader began the week second nationally with a league-best 13.17 groundballs per game…He entered today's contest eighth nationally with a 70.7 face-off winning percentage…The ten points by Badour, the team's top scorer this spring with 36 points, 23 goals and 13 assists, was second-most in Saint Rose single-game records…
Matt Graham '18 registered 11 points at American International on April 6, 2016…Graham scored five goals and a program-record six assists in the 17-6 road triumph…Badour, third on the Saint Rose career scoring list with 121 points, is second in program annals with 91 goals.
