SAINT ROSE DROPS A PAIR ON FINAL DAY OF SPRING TRIP

CARY, N.C. – The College of Saint Rose dropped the final two games of its spring trip today with a 6-3 setback to Mansfield and a 15-8 loss versus Dominican at the U.S.A. Baseball National Training Complex.

The Golden Knights (4-7) dropped the opener 6-3 to Mansfield, which scored four times in the fourth to avenge Saturday's 14-7 setback to the Golden Knights. Saint Rose then fell 15-8 tonight to Dominican (3-4).

Senior center fielder Alexander Koshgarian and senior right fielder Justin Sportman both went 2-for-4 with an RBI to lead the Golden Knights against Mansfield. Also, junior shortstop Andrew Pedone reached base three times in four at bats with a double and a pair of walks to go along with a stolen base.

On the mound, freshman right-hander Pryce Wasula tossed 2.2 innings of one-hit, shutout ball out of the bullpen.

In today's second game, Dominican (3-4) put itself in the catbird seat with a seven run first inning.

Pedone finished 2-for-3 with three runs scored, Teitter belted a two-run homer in the sixth, and junior catcher Jon Montesanti wound up 3-for-5. In addition, junior right-hander Richard Umholtz tossed 2.0 innings of no-hit ball out the bullpen.

Looking ahead, Saint Rose has a 4:00 pm game Thursday, March 21 at Saint Thomas Aquinas in Sparkill, N.Y.
