Matt Graham scored 1:14 into overtime as The College of Saint Rose men's lacrosse team upended Assumption 12-11 this afternoon. The Golden Knights (5-7/4-4 NE10) received a game-high six points from junior attack
Carter Badour in the important
Northeast-10 Conference road victory.
"I'm very proud of the way the guys hung together to beat a very good league opponent on the road," said Saint Rose head coach
Jim Morrissey. "Today was a big step for our team and program overall."
The back-and-forth contest saw its ninth and final deadlock when Badour fired one home with 1:04 remaining in regulation. The Saint Rose co-captain, who matched a career-best with five goals, recorded two game-tying markers in the final 3:13. Senior midfielder
Lucas Frese won the face-off to start overtime, allowing Graham and the rest of the Golden Knights attack to end things on the first possession.
Graham finished with three goals and one assist, while sophomore attack
Jordyn Marchiano added two goals and a helper. Graham, second in program annals with 126 points, is now six points away from moving past Kevin Fleming '15 for the top spot.
Senior goalie
Liam Guiton totaled 13 saves as the Golden Knights defeated Assumption for the first time since 2014.
Junior attack Dan Farrell led Assumption (7-3/5-3 NE10) with six points (four goals and two assists)
NE10 play continues next week. The Golden Knights travel to Manchester to face Southern New Hampshire on Wednesday at 4:00 pm. Assumption will host #2 Merrimack on Tuesday night.
