SAINT ROSE SWEEPS ADELPHI IN DRAMATIC FASHION

ALBANY – The College of Saint Rose rallied from a 3-1 deficit to take the opener 4-3 and then won the nightcap 6-5 after allowing a two-run cushion to evaporate in the eighth inning in today's sweep Northeast-10 Conference divisional rival Adelphi.

"This was two great team wins today. A lot of people contributed and we showed tremendous heart and resiliency to fight back in both games," said head coach Wayne Jones.

The Panthers (16-12-1/7-6 NE10) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the opening frame of the first game, but senior third baseman Joe Foran belted a solo home run in the fourth. Senior right fielder Michael Shine followed with an RBI single and senior catcher Tom Moore stroked a two-run base hit to highlight a Golden Knights (12-15/5-7 NE10) three run, sixth inning.

Meanwhile, junior right-hander Stephen Hill settled in after the first and allowed just four hits throughout the next 6.1 innings to improve to 3-3 on the year. Senior right-hander Caleb Gregg tossed 1.2 innings of no-hit ball to pick up the save. Moore, Foran, and senior center fielder Brian Uliana finished with two hits each.

In the finale, Adelphi scored two runs in both the eighth and ninth that turned a 3-1 deficit into a 5-4 lead. However, junior first baseman Nicolas Teitter slapped an RBI single through the left side that tied it 5-5 in the home half and freshman designated hitter Samuel Brioso induced a bases loaded walk that scored Foran with the winning run.

Uliana again had two hits while Teitter and Brioso wound up 2-for-5 and 2-for-4 respectively. Junior right-hander Zak Shaw allowed only an unearned run on five hits in 7.0 innings of work.

Looking ahead, both teams have NE10 divisional games on tap for Tuesday. The Golden Knights host #26/#17 and Upstate Challenge rival Le Moyne, while the Panthers travel to New Haven to take on Southern Connecticut State.
Notes: Uliana now has 11 multi-hit games on the year…Foran has reached base in six straight contests…The Golden Knights are 4-3 in one-run games this spring.
