GOLDEN KNIGHTS FALL TO TOP-RANKED MERRIMACK

Saint Rose Falls in NE10 Opener 12-5

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The College of Saint Rose men's lacrosse team opened Northeast-10 Conference play with a 12-5 loss at top-ranked Merrimack on Saturday afternoon. The Warriors (4-0/1-0 NE10), coming in at No. 1 in the USILA Coaches Poll, outscored the visitors 10-2 in the opening 45 minutes.

Junior attack Carter Badour topped Saint Rose (1-4/0-1 NE10) in scoring with three points on two goals and one assist. Senior midfielder Matt Graham netted a second quarter goal to equal Brett McAuliffe '14 for second-most in program annals at 79. Graham, now with 110 career points, is just 22 points away from moving past Kevin Fleming '15 for the top spot in school history. Freshman midfielders Kyle Meoli and John Loughlin rounded out the Saint Rose goal scorers. The fourth quarter tally was the first collegiate goal for Meoli.

Goalies Liam Guiton and Matthew Gill combined for 22 saves as the Golden Knights minimized the Merrimack attack early, trailing only 4-1 at the half.

Freshman attack Sean Black, who entered the game ranked fourth nationally with 6.67 points-per-game, led Merrimack with four goals and three assists.

Both teams continue NE10 play on Saturday. The Golden Knights host Bentley at 5:00 pm, while Merrimack visits No. 2 Le Moyne at 11:00 am.
