ALBANY-The College of Saint Rose women's basketball team had its final attempts rim out in its 60-59 loss to visiting Southern Connecticut State this afternoon. Sophomore guard
Takora McIntyre led Saint Rose (9-12/7-8 NE10) with a career-high 13 points in the
Northeast-10 Conference game.

Sophomore forward
Leah Dollard also had 13 points on 6-of-7 shooting, while junior forward
Karissa Birthwright added a dozen points on 4-of-5 shooting.

A jumper by SCSU (17-7/11-5 NE10) senior guard Africa Williams gave the visitors a 60-56 lead with 1:10 remaining. After Birthwright hit one of her two foul shots, McIntyre converted a lay-up with 26 ticks to go to make it 60-59. Dollard corralled the second-consecutive missed Southern Connecticut State free throw to set the stage for the Golden Knights final possession.

McIntyre totaled nine points in the first half as the Golden Knights trailed 33-30 at intermission. The home team made 50.0 percent of its first half shots and 45.7 percent in the game.

The Owls received a "double-double" of 13 points and 14 rebounds from sophomore forward Kiana Steinauer. It was the 10th double-double" of the year for Steinauer, who also had five steals. Williams topped Southern Connecticut State with 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting. The Golden Knights held senior forward Abby Hurlbert, the reigning NE10 Player of the Week, to a mere three points on 1-of-7 shooting.
Looking ahead, both teams have 5:30 pm road NE10 games on Tuesday. The Golden Knights travel to Garden City, N.Y. to face Adelphi, while Southern Connecticut State visits American International in Springfield.
Notes: Today was the annual Capital District Chapter of the Saint Rose Alumni Association Game. The Chapter donated $150 to the basketball program in honor of McIntyre, who was selected as the Player of the Game.
