GOLDEN KNIGHTS UPENDED IN HOME OPENER BY #17/#15 MERCY, 10-5

Badour Scores Three for Saint Rose

ALBANY –The College of Saint Rose was upended 10-5 by #17/15 Mercy in its home opener on Tuesday afternoon. Junior attack Carter Badour led the Golden Knights offense with three goals. Senior midfielder Matt Graham added a goal and also fed junior Jeremy Pariseau for a quick fourth quarter score. Graham became just the fourth player in Golden Knights annals to record 100 career points.

After allowing the visitors to tally the first five goals of the non-conference game, Saint Rose (0-2) battled back to cut the deficit to three numerous times in the second half. However, the Mavericks (3-1), ranked No. 17 in the USILA Coaches poll and No. 15 in the Nike/US Lacrosse poll, would quickly respond with a goal no more than 2:20 later each time.

Junior goalie Liam Guiton made 13 saves for the Golden Knights.

Mercy received two goals apiece from senior midfielder Kyle McDonough and freshman attack Dominic Scorcia. Junior goalie Ryan Gibbons made 15 stops, while junior defenseman Max Littleton, the 2017 East Coast Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Year, caused a game-high two turnovers.

Both teams have home games later this week. The Golden Knights will host Saint Thomas Aquinas on Friday at 3:00 pm. Mercy entertains Chestnut Hill on Saturday at 2:00 pm.
