WATERBURY, Conn. – Senior midfielder
Matt Graham totaled four-straight goals in a 6:41 third quarter stretch to help The College of Saint Rose earn a 14-5 non-conference win at Post University on Tuesday afternoon. The Golden Knights (1-2) outscored Post 7-1 in the third quarter and 11-2 after intermission in their first win of the season. Graham finished with six goals on just nine shots to match Brett McAuliffe '14 (Roberts Wesleyan, 4/7/2012) for most by a Saint Rose player in a single-game. He now sits tied for second in program annals with 106 career points.
After sophomore attack
Jordyn Marchiano plotted his second goal just 43 seconds into the third quarter, Graham took over. The Golden Knights co-captain converted a feed from freshman attack
Jack Pemrick 70 seconds later. At the 4:57 mark, Graham finished off a Pemrick dish before scoring unassisted just 32 ticks after.
Following an Eagles tally, Saint Rose scored twice in 30 seconds. Sophomore defenseman
Reed Chronis netted his first collegiate goal before Graham rocketed home his fifth of the quarter.
In addition to Chronis, numerous Golden Knights achieved collegiate firsts. Sophomore midfielder
Kyle Gainer and freshman attack
Liam Knehr netted their first goals as Golden Knights during a 3-3 first half. Pemrick had a pair of helpers and Knehr had one during the third quarter.
Junior attack
Carter Badour added a goal and two assists, while freshman midfielder
John Loughlin fired two into the net. The duo of junior midfielder
Nicolas Johnson and senior midfielder
Lucas Frese combined to win 16-of-22 face-offs. Johnson won eight of the nine that he took. Senior goalie
Liam Guiton stopped 12 Eagle shots in goal.
The Eagles (0-4) received two goals from senior attack Frank Nichols Jr. and three assists from junior attack Sean Olsen.
Both teams have non-conference games later this week. The Golden Knights are scheduled to host Florida Southern on Friday at 3:00 pm. Post entertains Saint Anselm on Saturday at 3:30 pm.
