ALBANY, N.Y.–Assumption tallied eight-consecutive goals as The College of Saint Rose dropped its Northeast-10 Conference opener 12-6 at the University at Albany this afternoon.
The Golden Knights (0-4/0-1 NE10) got off to a fast start in their home opener, taking a 3-1 lead after the opening quarter on goals by senior midfielder Connor Moore, junior attack Matt Graham and senior attack Tyler Mello.
Senior midfielder Justin Golec rocketed a Graham feed past Greyhounds' goalie Colby Hamwey to knot the contest at 4-4 with 9:18 remaining before halftime. From there, Assumption recorded eight unanswered strikes to put the game away. Mello and Graham scored again late for Saint Rose.
Sophomore attack Travis Reid led Assumption (1-2/1-2 NE10) with seven points on five goals and two assists.
In his first start of the year, sophomore goalie Austin Degener made 12 saves, while sophomore midfielder Nicolas Johnson won seven-of-nine face-offs. Sophomore defenseman Jeremy Pariseau topped all field players with four groundballs.
Saint Rose will host Post on Wednesday in non-conference action. The game is scheduled for a 5:00 pm start at the Plumeri Sports Complex. Meanwhile, the Greyhounds are home next Saturday, March 25 with a 1:00 pm NE10 date versus Bentley.
