SAINT ROSE FALLS AT FOURTH-RANKED MERRIMACK

NORTH ANDOVER, MA-The College of Saint Rose rallied from a 3-0 early deficit to get to within a goal, but fourth-ranked Merrimack scored three answered times on the way to defeating the Golden Knights 15-7 in Northeast-10 Conference action this afternoon. In the process, the Warriors (8-1/6-1 NE-10) extended their win streak to three games and improved to 6-0 at home this spring.

Six different Saint Rose (3-9/1-6 NE-10) players found the back of the net including junior midfielder Josh Frese who scored a pair.

Also, sophomore midfielder Connor Moore
recorded three assists for the third time this season while senior defenseman Trey Jackson and senior midfielder Jon Munroe each caused three turnovers. Freshman goalie Liam Guiton made 15 saves throughout 47:30 between the posts.

The Warriors struck quickly with three goals in the opening four minutes, before sophomore attack Matt Graham finished a Moore feed on a man-up opportunity and senior midfielder Mike Balla set up sophomore attack Evan Doherty less than a minute later to get the Golden Knights to within one.

However, Merrimack responded with three more goals during an 11 minute stretch that spanned the first and second quarters to put itself in the driver's seat.

For the Warriors, junior attack Max Allen finished with three goals and a pair of assists while junior midfielder John Bassett wound up with three strikes and a helper.

Looking ahead, both squads have home conference games on Tuesday. Saint Rose will host Bentley at 4:30 pm, while Merrimack will take on Franklin Pierce at 4:00 pm.
