GOLDEN KNIGHTS UPENDED BY STREAKING BENTLEY

ALBANY-Bentley tallied what proved to be the game-winner in the first quarter to upend The College of Saint Rose 8-3 in today's Northeast-10 Conference encounter at Sullivan Field at the Plumeri Sports Complex.

In the process, the Falcons (6-2/5-1 NE-10), who entered the afternoon boasting the league's second lowest goals-against-average, ran their win streak to three games and improved to 4-1 on the road this spring.

Sophomore attack Matt Graham, junior midfielder Josh Frese, and junior attack Tyler Mello accounted for the three Golden Knights (3-10/1-7 NE-10) strikes. Sophomore midfielder Connor Moore set up two of the goals and senior midfielder Mike Balla designed the other.

In the defensive end, freshman goalie Liam Guiton made 12 saves while senior defenseman Trey Jackson caused a pair of turnovers.

Saint Rose fought back from a pair of early deficits to keep itself in the game. Bentley struck twice in the opening three minutes, before Mello buried a Balla feed to make it 2-1 with 7:32 to go in the first quarter. The Falcons then boosted their advantage to 4-1, but Graham converted a Moore feed in a man-up situation for this team-leading 26th goal of the year.

However, the Falcons were able to dictate a relative deliberative pace the rest of the way to secure the victory.

Sophomore attack Matt Sanford, junior attack John Wheeler and senior midfielder Matt Brigham scored two goals apiece to lead the Bentley offense.

Looking ahead, both squads return to NE-10 action Saturday. The Golden Knights have a 6:00 pm home date with Pace University while the Falcons have a 5:00 pm appointment at fourth-ranked Adelphi on Long Island.
