SAINT ROSE RALLY FALLS SHORT AT NE-10 RIVAL SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE

MANCHESTSER, NH-The College of Saint Rose rebounded from a 7-0 early second quarter deficit to get to within three goals late in the third quarter before Southern New Hampshire accounted for six of the final eight strikes to upend the Golden Knights 16-9 in Northeast-10 Conference action today.

The Penmen (3-4/2-3 NE-10) engineered a 54-39 shot advantage and took advantage of 24 Golden Knights miscues to win their second straight.

Sophomore midfielder Connor Moore had two goals and an assist, sophomore attack Matt Graham scored twice as well, and senior midfielder Mike Balla added a goal and a helper to spearhead the Saint Rose offense (2-8/0-5 NE-10).

Additionally, freshman goalie Liam Guiton made a season-high 18 saves, while sophomore specialist Lucas Frese won 14-of-22 face-offs and came up with six groundballs.

Moore got the Golden Knights on the board with 13:08 remaining in the second, and then sophomore attacks Tom Horan and Evan Doherty, and Moore, scored three minutes apart midway through the third to make it a 10-7 game.

However, Southern New Hampshire junior attack Keifer Heckman struck in a man-up situation with 18 seconds left in the period and
senior attack Cameron Joyce scored with the Penmen down in the opening two minutes of the fourth to stall the Saint Rose momentum.

Joyce scored five goals and set up another, while Heckman found the back of the net four times to lead the Penmen.

Looking ahead, both squads have road conference games this Wednesday. The Golden Knights will visit American International for a 4:30 pm start in Springfield, while Southern New Hampshire will take on Saint Michael's at 3:00 pm in Colchester, VT.
