SAINT ROSE FALLS TWICE TO NE-10 RIVAL PACE

ALBANY–The College of Saint Rose fell 7-3 and 8-1 to Pace in a Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader on a beautiful Saturday afternoon at Cathy Haker Field.

Saint Rose (10-22/5-11 NE-10) made a late push in game one when it loaded with bases with no outs and scored twice in the bottom of the fifth inning. Junior left fielder Carly Wood delivered an RBI groundout and senior shortstop Danielle Brusca drew a walk to cut the Pace (21-11/14-4 NE-10) lead to 6-2.

The Setters tacked on a run in the top of the sixth and the Golden Knights scored on an RBI double from sophomore second baseman Taylor Solomon in the home half of the inning. However, Saint Rose was unable to keep momentum, and ultimately fell short.

Senior center fielder Meghan Reynolds went 2-for-3 with a run scored, and senior right-hander Danielle Dayton allowed one run and picked up a strikeout in 3.0 innings out of the pen.

In game two, Saint Rose loaded the bases in the first inning on singles from Brusca, sophomore third baseman Jadyn Costello and senior catcher Zoe Dubois (Burnt Hills, N.Y./Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake). The Golden Knights then scored their lone run on a fielder's choice groundout from senior right fielder Tina Karaqi.

Costello finished 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored, while DuBois went 2-for-3. Senior right-hander Nicole Wickham pitched a complete game and allowed three earned runs.

Looking ahead, the Golden Knights host Le Moyne in an Upstate Challenge 4:00 pm doubleheader on Monday, April 18. Meanwhile, Pace has 3:30 pm home league twin-bill Tuesday versus Southern Connecticut State.
