LATE SURGE PROPELS GOLDEN KNIGHTS AT ROBERTS WESLEYAN

ROCHESTER, NY-The College of Saint Rose broke open a three-goal game by outscoring host Roberts Wesleyan 5-0 in the fourth quarter en route to today's 14-6 victory. In the process, the Golden Knights (2-2) won their second straight after manufacturing a 36-23 shot advantage and a 24-12 groundball differential.
 
Sophomore attach Matt Graham extended his season-long scoring streak to four contests with four goals and a pair of assists, while sophomore attack Evan Doherty became just the third player in the program's five-year history to register five goals in a game. Also, junior midfielder Josh Frese scored twice, sophomore midfielder Connor Moore set up three strikes for the second consecutive time, and senior midfielder Jon Munroe had a goal and an assist.
 
Furthermore, sophomore specialist Lucas Frese and freshman midfielder Nicolas Johnson won 18 of 24 faceoff opportunities, junior goalie Joe Shapiro made eight saves throughout 46 minutes, and senior defenseman Robert Reyes and senior long stick midfielder Bobby Primo both caused a pair of turnovers.
 
The contest was tied 1-1 and 3-3, before Doherty scored with 10:31 left in the second quarter to put Saint Rose ahead to stay. The Golden Knights eventually boosted their advantage to 9-6 heading into the fourth where they subsequently won four of the initial five faceoff chances to keep the Redhawks (2-5) offense off the field.
 
Senior attack Dom Cianfarano and junior attack Matt Benedict each scored twice to lead Roberts Wesleyan.
 
Looking ahead, the Golden Knights open their 2016 Northeast-10 Conference slate Saturday at sixth-ranked Adelphi. Game time is 1:00 pm. Meanwhile, Roberts Wesleyan has a 5:00 pm East Coast Conference meeting Friday at Dominican College in Orangeburg, NY.
