GOLDEN KNIGHTS FINISH STRONG IN 8-4 SETBACK TO #2 AND UPSTATE CHALLENGE RIVAL LE MOYNE

ALBANY-The College of Saint Rose put itself in striking distance late after falling behind 4-1 and 6-2 before second-ranked and visiting Upstate Challenge rival Le Moyne scored twice in the final 4:32 to upend the Golden Knights 8-4 in today's Northeast-10 Conference tilt.

The Dolphins (8-0/4-0 NE-10), who entered the afternoon boasting the country's stingiest defense, controlled tempo the majority of the contest by winning 10-of-16 faceoff opportunities that helped lead to a 34-16 shot advantage in what was a deliberately paced game.

Senior midfielder Mike Balla and sophomore attack Tom Horan each scored twice, while freshman goalie Liam Guiton made 11 saves for the Golden Knights. Also, senior midfielder Jon Munroe gathered up three groundballs.

Saint Rose remained very much in the game after Horan scored to make it a 4-2 affair in the opening five minutes of the fourth quarter. Le Moyne then recorded a pair of unanswered tallies, before Horan struck again unassisted with 8:20 remaining. However, the Dolphins maintained possession for the majority of the ensuing eight minutes to keep their unblemished record intact.

Senior attack Andrew Jackson struck twice and added an assist, and junior midfielder Brian Rogers also scored a pair of goals to propel the Le Moyne offense.

Looking ahead, both squads have road conference games this Saturday in the Granite State. The Golden Knights will travel to Manchester for a 1:00 pm meeting at Southern New Hampshire, while the Dolphins will head to Rindge for a 12:00 pm date at Franklin Pierce.
