#13 MOLLOY STRIKES LATE TO UPEND GOLDEN KNIGHTS

ALBANY-Molloy outscored The College of Saint Rose 3-0 following a two hour and nine minute lightning delay midway through the third quarter to upend the Golden Knights 12-8 tonight at Sullivan Field at the Plumeri Sports Complex. Each squad generated 31 shots and Saint Rose (2-4) won 18 of 24 faceoff opportunities, but also coughed up the ball five more times than the 13th ranked Lions (6-1) who bounced back from their lone loss of the season.

Senior midfielder Mike Balla scored three goals and had an assist, and junior midfielder Josh Frese finished with a pair of strikes and a helper as well to propel the Golden Knights offense. Furthermore, sophomore specialist Lucas Frese won 15 of his 17 faceoffs, senior midfielder Jon Munroe came up with six groundballs and senior defenseman Trey Jackson caused a pair of turnovers and came up with three groundballs.

Balla put Saint Rose up 1-0 just 29 seconds in with an unassisted tally. The Golden Knights subsequently rebounded from a 3-1 deficit to deadlock it 3-3 at the end of the first quarter. They then proceeded to give Molloy all it could handle by countering five one-goal deficits to forge five ties. However, the Lions accounted for the final three goals after sophomore midfielder Connor Moore made it an 8-8 game on an unassisted strike with 11:32 remaining in the third.

Junior attack Connor Slane accounted for the eventual game-winner when he finished a pass from senior midfielder Austin Valenti 28 seconds following Moore's strike.

Senior midfielder Peter Clark recorded five goals and an assist, and fellow senior midfielder Kevin Teresky found the back of the net three times and designed another to spearhead the Lions offense.

Looking ahead, Saint Rose resumes Northeast-10 Conference action when it travels to Worcester, Mass. to take on Assumption this Saturday at 1 p.m. Meanwhile, Molloy is at NYIT next Wednesday for a 4 p.m. clash.
