SAINT ROSE FALLS TO LE MOYNE

ALBANY–Le Moyne scored three runs in the first inning on the way to a 10-4 win versus The College of Saint Rose in Northeast-10 Conference Southwest Division action today at Bob Bellizzi Field. In the process, the Dolphins (14-19/7-8 NE-10) took all three league games this spring to secure a point in the year-long Upstate Challenge rivalry series between the two schools.

Freshman shortstop Bray Curreri had a two-run base hit in the seventh and sophomore second baseman Tyler Ungerland went 2-for-4 with a run scored to lead the Golden Knights (8-22/5-12 NE-10).

Le Moyne boosted its lead to 4-0 in the second inning; before Saint Rose got one back in the bottom half when junior left fielder Nick Venier crossed home on a double play ball after stroking a leadoff single.

However, the Dolphins added two runs in the fourth and three more in the sixth to put itself in the catbird seat with a 9-1 advantage. Curreri then made it a 9-3 ballgame in the seventh and junior catcher Patrick Griffin drove home senior designated hitter Lukas Nethaway with a sacrifice fly in the ninth after Le Moyne had made it 10-3 in the eighth.

Junior second baseman Brett Charbonneau reached base five times with three singles and a pair of walks, while sophomore center fielder Donato DiNorcia finished 2-for-5 with and drove in two runs to spearhead the Dolphins attack.

Looking ahead, Saint Rose plays its final regular-season home date tomorrow with a 2:00 pm non-league, twin-bill versus St. Joseph's, VT. Meanwhile, Le Moyne closes out it 2015 regular-season docket this weekend with a three-game NE-10 division series at Pace University.
