ALBANY–The College of Saint Rose threw an early scare at fourth-ranked and Northeast-10 Conference rival Merrimack, before the Warriors pulled away in the second half to upend the Golden Knights 12-4 on Senior Day at Sullivan Field.

Saint Rose (4-10/3-8 NE-10) was within one, 4-3, early in the third quarter of its 2015 season finale, before Merrimack (12-1/10-1 NE-10) pulled away by scoring eight unanswered goals.

Senior goalkeeper Nick Longo made 20 saves to keep the Golden Knights within striking distance early on. Senior midfielders Kris Miller and Ryan McFee, junior attack Justin Golec and freshman midfielder Matt Graham accounted for the four Saint Rose strikes.

Golec cut a 2-0 Golden Knights deficit in half when he scored unassisted midway through the first quarter. The Warriors responded with a pair of strikes spanning a 12 minute stretch between the first and second quarters to take a 4-1 lead. Miller then finished a feed from senior attack Kevin Fleming with 6:37 left in the second to make it 4-2 at intermission.

The Golden Knights struck first in the third as Miller set up Graham who found the back of the net to bring Saint Rose to within one, 4-3, with 13:35 showing on the clock.

However, the Warriors scored three times within a five minute span of the third quarter to push its advantage to 7-3 heading into the final period. They then tacked on five more in the fourth, before senior midfielder Michael Grundig converted a pass from senior attack Evan Helming with 2:27 left to close out the scoring.

Junior midfielder Tim Towler scored four goals and sophomore attack Tucker Schwarz finished with three strikes and a pair of assists to spearhead Merrimack to its sixth consecutive win.

Prior to contest, 10 Golden Knights were honored during a brief pregame ceremony as part of Senior Day festivities. The contingent comprises the first four-year class of the Saint Rose men's lacrosse program. Among the honorees were attack Colin Sorber, defensemen Pat Sunday and Jake Files, and midfielder Louie Buccella; in addition to Longo, Miller, McFee, Fleming, Grundig and Helming.
