PACE UNIVERSITY GETS OUT TO EARLY LEAD TO UPEND GOLDEN KNIGHTS

PLEASANTVILLE, NY-Pace University got out to a 6-2 first quarter lead to upend The College of Saint Rose 16-8 in Northeast-10 Conference action today.
 
Freshman midfielder Matt Graham scored three goals and added an assist to lead the Golden Knights (4-8/3-6 NE-10) offense. Senior midfielder Ryan McFee and junior attack Justin Golec scored twice apiece, while senior attack Evan Helming contributed the final tally. Also, junior defenseman Robert Reyes forced a team-high three turnovers.
 
The two teams exchanged a pair of strikes throughout the opening 10 minutes, before the Setters (6-6/4-5 NE-10) scored six unanswered goals to go up 8-2 with 12:38 remaining until halftime. Senior attack Kevin Fleming then set up Graham and Golec four minutes apart to bring Saint Rose to within 8-4. However, Pace reeled off five straight in the opening 10 minutes of the third quarter to put itself in control with a 13-4 advantage.
 
Freshman attack Joshua Kreiter scored six goals, while junior midfielder Matthew Cossidente and freshman attack Anthony Gadaleta had three apiece to lead the Setters who have now won three of their last four games.
 
Looking ahead, both teams have home games on tap for this Saturday. The Golden Knights will host Assumption at 6:00 pm, while the Setters will take on Saint Michael's at 12:00 pm.
