GOLDEN KNIGHTS RALLY LATE TO UPEND SAINT ANSELM IN OVERTIME

MANCHESTER, NH–Senior attack Kevin Fleming scored five goals including the game-winner in overtime to lift The College of Saint Rose to a 10-9 triumph at Northeast-10 Conference rival Saint Anselm today.

The Golden Knights (4-7/3-5 NE-10) rallied from a 9-6 fourth quarter deficit by scoring three unanswered goals within a seven minute span to force the extra session. Freshman midfielder Lucas Frese won two face-offs during that stretch to put Saint Rose in position for the win.

Senior midfielder Kris Miller scored three goals and added an assist and junior attack Justin Golec finished with a pair of goals for the Golden Knights. Also, senior goalkeeper Nick Longo registered 16 saves while senior defenseman Pat Sunday caused four turnovers and came up with three groundballs.

Fleming finished feeds from senior attack Evan Helming and senior midfielder Ryan McFee to bring Saint Rose to within a goal, 9-8, with 2:12 remaining. Golec then completed a Miller feed to make it 9-9 with 1:03 left. The Golden Knights manufactured two more shots, but overtime ensued.

Frese then won the opening faceoff and Miller hit the crossbar before Saint Anselm was called for interference that set up a 30 second man-up situation for Saint Rose. Golec immediately got off a shot that sailed high, but Fleming made his count to give the Golden Knights a one-goal win, against four such losses this spring, with 57 seconds elapsed.

As for the Hawks (1-8/1-6 NE-10), sophomore midfielder Mark Vitello scored three goals and senior midfielder James Peters had two strikes and an assist.

Looking ahead, both teams have 3:30 pm road conference games this Wednesday. Saint Rose travles to Pleasantville to take on Pace University at SUNY Purchase while Saint Anselm heads to Colchester, VT to meet Saint Michael's.
