GOLDEN KNIGHTS CONCLUDE FLORIDA STAY ON A HIGH NOTE

WINTER PARK, FL–The College of Saint Rose scored twice in each of the first two innings to conclude its stay at the Rollins College Baseball Week with this afternoon's 5-3 victory versus Saint Anselm.

Senior right-hander Ryan Harper allowed three runs on six hits and fanned six throughout 7.0 innings of work to improve to 2-0 on the year, while senior designated hitter Lukas Nethaway belted a two-run homer in the first to lead the Golden Knights (3-8).

Furthermore, senior first baseman Zac Bellinger doubled in the eighth to extend his hit streak to eight games, while senior right fielder Joseph Carcone, sophomore shortstop Tyler Ungerland, and freshman third baseman Alec Caprarella had two hits apiece. Also, junior right-hander Forrest Kirsch set the Hawks (2-9) down in order in the ninth to collect his first save in a Saint Rose uniform.

The Golden Knights doubled their 2-0 lead in the second when senior second baseman Ryan Hooker drove home Caprarella with a base hit to right and then came around one batter later on a Carcone single to center. Saint Rose then went up 5-0 in the fourth when Caprarella brought across Ungerland with a two-out single.

Saint Anselm scored once in its half of the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings. Freshman left fielder John Marcultis went 2-for-4 with an RBI double down the left field line in the sixth to spearhead the Hawks offense.

Looking ahead, the Golden Knights for now are scheduled to play their home opener this Wednesday with a 12:30 pm doubleheader versus Saint Joseph (VT). Meanwhile, Saint Anselm has a 6:00 pm game versus Concordia later today, before concluding its Florida stay tomorrow with a 10:00 am date against Assumption.
