CLOSE CALL AGAIN FOR THE GOLDEN KNIGHTS

COLCHESTER, VT-The College of Saint Rose rebounded from a huge deficit for the second consecutive game with little to show for it as host Saint Michael's upended the Golden Knights 12-10 today in Northeast-10 Conference action.

Saint Rose (2-5/1-3 NE-10), which rebounded from a 6-1 deficit in Saturday's 8-7, overtime setback at Bentley, scored four unanswered fourth quarter goals after trailing 9-4 at halftime.

Senior midfielders Ryan McFee and Kris Miller, and senior goalie Nick Longo all had career days.

McFee finished with a career-high three goals and Miller tied his career best with four assists to go along with a goal himself. Longo meanwhile registered a career-best for the second consecutive game with 23 stops. He furthermore accounted for the game's first strike by going through the middle of the defense and finding the back of the net from about 10-yards out. Additionally, junior defenseman Robert Reyes caused three of the Golden Knights 12 forced turnovers.

Senior attack Evan Helming and freshman midfielder Matt Graham also scored, while junior attack Justin Golec added an assist.

The Purple Knights (3-2/2-1 NE-10) scored three unanswered goals to go up 3-1 midway through the first. Helming then cut the Saint Rose deficit to 6-4 with an unassisted, man-up goal midway through the second, but Saint Michael's rattled off three straight strikes to take a 9-4 halftime lead.

The Purple Knights eventually boosted their advantage to 12-5, before the Golden Knights accounted for the game's final five goals with McFee recording the last tally with less than a minute to play. However, Saint Michael's won the ensuing faceoff and was able to run out the clock.

Junior attack Mark Yetter wound up with four goals and five assists, and senior attack Matt Dromeshauser set up a pair scoring plays and finished three times himself to pace the Purple Kngihts charge.

Looking ahead, both teams have conference dates on tap for Saturday. Saint Rose is scheduled to host American International at 6:00 pm, while Saint Michael's has a 1:00 pm date at Southern New Hampshire.
