SAINT ROSE RALLIES FROM 6-1 DEFICIT, BUT FALLS IN OVERTIME AT NE-10 RIVAL BENTLEY

GOLDEN KNIGHTS SUFFER THIRD ONE-GOAL DEFEAT OF THE SEASON

WALTHAM, MA-The College of Saint Rose rallied from a 6-1, third quarter deficit only to fall 8-7 in overtime at Northeast-10 Conference rival Bentley this afternoon.

The Golden Knights (2-4/1-2 NE-10) scored six unanswered goals to go up 7-6 with nine minutes to go, but the Falcons (2-2/1-1 NE-10) deadlocked it 7-7 with 7:33 left in regulation and buried the game-winner with 2:38 remaining in the fifth period to hand Saint Rose its third one-goal setback of the season.

Senior attack Kevin Fleming and senior midfielder Kris Miller had two goals and an assist to pace the Saint Rose offense. Freshman midfielder Matt Graham added a pair of strikes and senior midfielder Ryan McFee accounted for the other tally.

Defensively, senior goalie Nick Longo made a career-high 19 saves and senior defenseman Jake Files caused a pair of turnovers. Longo and junior long stick midfielder Mike Balla also forced one miscue apiece. Additionally, Files and sophomore midfielder Michael Tannenbaum each picked up four groundballs.

Graham registered back-to-back unassisted strikes seven minutes apart to bring the Golden Knights to within 6-3 at the outset of the fourth quarter. McFee and Miller then struck within 20 seconds of each other before the final period was a minute old. Miller later set up Fleming to make it a 6-6 game with 12:55 to go. Four minutes after that, Fleming gave Saint Rose its first lead since the game's opening two minutes.

However, Bentley senior attack Matt Dente tied it 7-7 with his team-leading sixth strike of the year at the 7:33 mark.

The Falcons won the ensuing faceoff and forced Saint Rose to withstand a five-shot possession during a nearly three minute stretch. The Golden Knights then turned the ball over twice and Bentley once during the final two minutes, although the Falcons had the final crack as senior midfielder Bobby Hinds' shot sailed wide with one second showing on the clock.

Bentley again won the faceoff to commence overtime, and drew a one minute penalty that set the stage for Dente to notch the game-winner.

Dente finished with three goals and a pair of helpers, while freshman midfielder Matt Stanford had two goals and a like number of assists for the Falcons.

Looking ahead, both teams have conference dates on their dockets for Tuesday. The Golden Knights have a 3:00 pm meeting at Saint Michael's in Colchester, VT; while Bentley will entertain Saint Anselm at 7:00 pm.
