Nicole Wickham aided in a 1-1 outing Monday morning as The College of Saint Rose softball team defeated Concordia 2-0 and fell to NYIT 12-11 in eight innings, at the NTC Spring Games at the National Training Center.

The lone hit for the Clippers (0-2 overall) came in the top of the seventh, scratching the chance for Wickham (3-1) to collect the no-hitter. The Greenville, N.Y. native threw a complete game, walking just one of the 23 batters she faced.

Zoe DuBois put the Golden Knights (3-2) on the board in the bottom of the first with a groundout RBI to first base, allowing junior short stop
Danielle Brusca to sneak home.

Marisa Bird sent a shot deep to left center to nab her lone RBI of the game in the third, giving freshman
Katie Shevlin time to reach the plate from second.

Earlier in the day, Saint Rose went back and forth with the Bears (2-1), and eventually entered into extra innings to settle the score.

The Golden Knights answered a 1-0 advantage of NYIT in the first with a big four-run performance in the second. Freshman infielder
Taylor Solomon picked up two RBI when she dished out a hard hit to third with the bases loaded, reaching on a fielder's choice and advancing to second on the throw to home. Junior
Meghan Reynolds kept the momentum going as she followed Solomon in the lineup, cracking a RBI single to center.

Marisa Bird capped scoring in the second for Saint Rose with a RBI single to first, advancing to second on a throwing error from Sonia Marin.

The Bears took an 8-4 lead as they tacked on seven runs through its next two at-bats, capitalizing on eight hits with seven RBI.

Saint Rose fired back four in the fifth to tie the game 8-8, and tacked on three more in the sixth to take an 11-8 lead. In the sixth, Reynolds got things going as she reached on an error by shortstop Amber Butenhoff. Reynolds eventually scored off a RBI single to left from Bird (Marisa). Wood played her own part in scoring with another RBI single to left, later followed by DuBois's RBI double down the left field line.

To combat the three run deficit, NYIT added a run in the sixth, and two more in the bottom of the seventh to send the game into extra innings.

Using the tie breaker rule, Brusca was placed on second in the top of the eighth, but could not advance. The Bears utilized the runner on second as they laid down a sacrifice bunt, and notched a RBI single down the left field line, claiming the win.

DuBois dished out a 3-for-4 effort, nabbed one RBI, followed by M. Bird at 3-for-5, two RBI and two runs.

Wickham suffered the loss, her first of the season, as she gave up nine runs and 10 hits in the final 3.1 innings. Sophomore
Renee Vaiano earned the start, striking out four and allowing eight hits in 4.0 complete innings.

Saint Rose returns to the diamond on Wednesday for a 9:00 am contest against Southern Wesleyan, followed by a contest with Saginaw Valley State at 11:00 am.
