SAINT ROSE SURGES PAST SETTERS TO CHALK UP THIRD STRAIGHT WIN

Highlights
ALBANY-The College of Saint Rose shot a season-best 57.4 percent (31-for-54) from the floor and outrebounded Pace 35-25 en route to an 83-54 Northeast-10 Conference victory tonight at the Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium. In the process, the Golden Knights (8-16/6-11 NE-10) extended their win streak to three games.

Freshman forward Jack Jones went 7-for-7 from the arc on the way to a season-high 27 points to go along with 10 rebounds for his first career double-double. Fellow freshman forward Julian Lipinski contributed 10 points, while freshman guard Jamaal Greenwood and freshman center Sam Eckstrom added nine points apiece for the Golden Knights who had nine different players figure in the scoring column.

Saint Rose, which got off to 15-0 and 22-9 starts in its previous two games, also put itself in the driver's seat early on this evening. The Golden Knights were up 17-4 eight minutes in following a Jones layup and doubled the Setters scoring output with a 42-21 halftime lead. They eventually boosted their cushion to 37 points, 83-46, in the final four minutes.

For Pace, junior forward Kyle Pearson and junior guard Shelton Mickell scored 24 and 22 points respectively to account for 85.2 percent of their team's offensive production.

Looking ahead, both teams have 3:30 pm games this Saturday. The Golden Knights will play their final regular-season home game of the year and host Upstate Challenge rival Le Moyne in the second half of a league doubleheader, while the Setters will travel to New Haven. The Saint Rose contest may be seen live on www.gogoldenknights.tv.

At halftime of tonight's game, 37 Saint Rose student-athletes were recognized for garnering various awards at the conference, regional and national level throughout the previous 12 months as part of Athletic Appreciation Night. The NCAA Tournament participating women's volleyball and women's soccer squads were also recognized. The ceremony was sponsored by Hugh Johnson Advisors.
