EASTON, MA-Host Stonehill shot 60.0 percent (12-for-20) from long range to upend The College of Saint Rose 69-59 in
Northeast-10 Conference action this afternoon.
Â
Junior forward
Chris Dorgler finished with 14 points and six rebounds, while freshman guard
Jalaun Taylor filled the box score with 10 points, nine boards and five assists to lead the Golden Knights (5-16/3-11 NE-10).
Â
Saint Rose bounced back from a seven point deficit just past the midway point of the first half to go into the locker room tied, 34-34, at intermission after Dorgler knocked down a trey with two seconds left. Junior guard
Max Weaver then converted a layup to open the second half, but the Skyhawks responded with 12 unanswered points throughout the next four minutes to go up 10, 46-36.
Â
Saint Rose hung tough though and twice got to within a bucket. Taylor nailed a 3-pointer with 3:53 remaining to make it a 59-57 affair and then drained a jumper two minutes later, which pulled the Golden Knights to within 61-59. However, Stonehill held the Golden Knights scoreless throughout the final 2:17 to chalk up its fifth straight win.
Â
Junior guard Carter Smith and sophomore forward Ryan Logan tossed in 14 points apiece, while senior forward Jack Cole and junior guard Daniel Brix added 10 each to lead the Skyhawks (14-6/9-5 NE-10).
