ALBANY-Saint Anselm outscored The College of Saint Rose 28-10 from the foul line by converting 84.8 percent (28-for-33) of its chances to upend the Golden Knights 80-74 in a
Northeast-10 Conference encounter this afternoon at the Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium. The contest was the Saint Rose Annual Pink Zone Game with all gate receipts and donations directed towards the fight against cancer.

The Golden Knights (8-10/5-7 NE-10) shot 50.9 percent (29-for-57) from the floor and put four players in double-figures scoring for the third straight game, but the Hawks (6-12/4-9 NE-10) opened the second half with an 8-2 run that transformed a four point, 43-39, lead into a 10 point cushion, 51-41, with 17:19 to go.

The Golden Knights got back to within four, 53-49, after senior center
Mariah Lesure went 1-for-2 from the foul line with 12:19 left, but Saint Anselm countered with an 8-2 spurt that put them back up by 10, 61-51, with 9:23 to go. Saint Rose was then unable to get any closer than six the rest of the way as the Hawks went 7-for-8 from the stripe throughout the final 1:25 to chalk up their second road win of the year.

Lesure and senior guard
Gabie Polce both tossed in season highs to pace the Golden Knights. Lesure recorded 16 of her 24 points after intermission and also contributed eight rebounds and five assists. Polce finished with 18 points behind a 4-for-6 effort from the arc. Also, senior guard
Jamie Hutcheson and sophomore forward
Staci Barrett added 12 and 10 points respectively.

For Saint Anselm, sophomore guard Candace Andrews scored 26 points and handed out six assists, while freshman guard Ali Glennon finished with 16 points via a 6-for-9 shooting performance. Also, junior guard Raquel Johnson and sophomore guard Caitlyn Abela contributed 13 and 12 points respectively.

Looking ahead, Saint Rose is back home Wednesday to host Bentley for Academic Appreciation Night. Tip-off for the first half of the NE-10 doubleheader is set for 5:30 pm. Meanwhile, the Hawks are off until next Saturday, January 31, when they will host American International at 1:30 pm in Manchester, NH.
