ALBANY-The College of Saint Rose shot 53.3 percent (8-for-15) from the arc and used a 12-2 run midway through the second half to cap its 2013-14 campaign on a high note with a 75-67 victory against Northeast-10 Conference rival Southern Connecticut State this afternoon.

Junior guard Gabie Polce tossed in a season-high 22 points for the Golden Knights (11-15/6-14 NE-10) who put four players in double-figures scoring for the sixth time this year. Freshman forward Staci Barrett recorded 11 of her 14 points throughout the final 20 minutes, while junior guard Jamie Hutcheson and junior center Jess DeNicola added 12 and 10 respectively. Hutcheson also had six assists and a like number of rebounds.

After the two teams walked into the locker room deadlocked 36-36, the Golden Knights took control with a spurt that transformed a three point, 47-44, deficit into a seven point, 56-49, advantage with 9:10 to go. Polce drained a trey to ignite the run that afforded the contest its ninth tie. Hutcheson subsequently closed it with a 3-pointer of her own.

The Owls (12-13/8-11 NE-10) hung tough though and pulled back to within one, 61-60, with 3:21 left. However, Barrett finished in the paint and then Polce converted a Hutcheson steal to make it 65-60 Saint Rose with 2:49 to go. The Golden Knights eventually boosted their cushion back to seven on three more occasions.

Sophomore forward Jackie Bethea recorded a "double-double" behind 24 points and 14 rebounds to pace Southern Connecticut State. Freshman forward Taylor McLaughlin scored 15 points, while senior forward Keisha Primo and junior guard Sydni Lester added 10 each.

Prior to today's game, senior guards Desiree Simmons and Brittany O'Shea were recognized in brief ceremony as part of Senior Day festivities. Also recognized were senior cheerleaders Briana Ambrose, Joanna Clark and Stephanie Staudle.
