Freshman forward Staci Barrett scored a season-high 16 points tonight.
Box Score

ALBANY-The College of Saint Rose rallied from a 43-36 halftime deficit to take a six point lead midway through the second stanza, but Northeast-10 Conference rival Adelphi recovered to upend the Golden Knights 84-75 tonight at the Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium.

Both squads shot well from the floor. Saint Rose (10-15/5-14 NE-10) buried 49.1 percent (27-for-55) of its chances, while the Panthers (19-5/13-5 NE-10) converted 50.9 percent (28-for-55) of their opportunities. However, Adelphi outscored the Golden Knights 22-16 from the free throw line and held them without a field goal throughout the final 6:43 to win its fifth straight.

Junior guard Gabie Polce and freshman forward Staci Barrett scored 16 points apiece, and junior center Jess DeNicola finished with 12 points and seven rebounds to lead Saint Rose. Barrett's production represents a season-high.

The Golden Knights burst out of the locker room with a 28-15 charge that afforded them a 64-58 lead after Barrett finished a steal by junior guard Jamie Hutcheson with 10:14 to go. However, the Panthers countered with seven unanswered points that put them ahead 65-64 with 8:12 left.

Saint Rose then scored four straight to go back up by three, 68-65, after a Barrett layup, but consecutive Adelphi baskets by senior guard Jessica Kitrys and freshman forward Calli Balfour put the Panthers ahead to stay with 6:02 remaining. It was still a one possession game for the next three minutes. Adelphi finally sealed it by going 6-for-8 from the foul line down the stretch.

Kitrys poured in 19 of her game-high 33 points in the second half for the Panthers. Balfour and junior forward Jenna Halaby added 14 each.

Up next, the Golden Knights are scheduled to close out their 2013-14 campaign Saturday against visiting league rival Southern Connecticut State. Tip-off is set for 1:30 pm for "Senior Day". Meanwhile, the Panthers will host Pace University on Saturday at 1:30 pm as well.
