Box Score

SYRACUSE-The College of Saint Rose shot 50.9 percent (27-for-53) from the floor and manufactured a 47-26 rebounding advantage to upend host Northeast-10 Conference rival Le Moyne 71-53 today. In the process, the Golden Knights (10-14/5-13 NE-10) snapped a five-game skid and gained one-half point towards the year-long Upstate Challenge rivalry series between the two schools.

Junior guard Jamie Hutcheson recorded her fifth "double-double" of the year to lead four Saint Rose players in double-figures scoring. Hutcheson wound up with season-highs of 19 points and 14 rebounds thanks to 7-for-12 shooting from the floor, including a 4-for-7 effort from the arc.

Also, senior center Jess DeNicola wound up with 13 points and eight boards, while senior guard Desiree Simmons finished with 14 points. Furthermore, sophomore guard Nicole Bini and sophomore forward Kelsey Glanzman provided huge lifts off the bench. Bini tossed in 10 points while Glanzman had 10 rebounds to go along with four points and four assists without a turnover.

The Golden Knights dug themselves an early hole, but responded with 17 unanswered points to take a 19-10 lead midway through the opening period after Hutcheson canned a 3-pointer. They were never really threatened again. Le Moyne (13-11/9-9 NE-10) managed to get back to within six, 36-30, when sophomore forward Maggie Brown converted a jumper in the opening minutes of the second half. However, Saint Rose took off on a 14-4 run that boosted its advantage to 16, 50-34, with 10:59 to go after Bini knocked down a jumper of her own.

Brown scored all 16 of her points in the second half and also hauled in nine rebounds, while junior forward Emily Greer scored 16 points as well to pace the Dolphins who came into the afternoon having won three of their last four.

Up next, the Golden Knights are back home Wednesday with a 5:30 pm meeting with Adelphi. It will be Student-Athlete Athletic Appreciation Night, presented by Hugh Johnson Advisors, LLC. Meanwhile, the Dolphins are off until next Saturday when they will head to Springfield to take on American International at 1:30 pm.
