Box Score

ALBANY- Stonehill outscored The College of Saint Rose 6-1 throughout the final 19 seconds of regulation and then recorded 15 of the first 18 points in overtime to take home a dramatic 92-81 Northeast-10 Conference victory at the Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium this afternoon.

Senior guard Mary Louise Dixon provided the biggest blow for the Skyhawks (13-5/10-4 NE-10) by draining a 3-pointer from the top of the key at the buzzer that brought about another five minutes of basketball.

The Golden Knights (9-11/4-10 NE-10) previously appeared to be in control via a six point, 72-66, advantage with 43 seconds left in the second half. However, they went just 3-for-8 from the foul line from that point forward to provide an opening that Stonehill took full advantage of.

After senior guard Gabie Polce buried the second of two free throws to afford Saint Rose a five point, 73-68, advantage with 19 ticks showing, junior guard Amy Pelletier canned a trey at the other end to make it 73-71 Golden Knights. Polce went 1-fof-2 again after Stonehill intentionally fouled and then Dixon hit her dagger on the next trip up the floor.

Saint Rose junior guard Jamie Hutcheson had a season-high 16 points to go with eight rebounds and six assists en route to being named the Capital Region Chapter of the Saint Rose Alumni Association Player of the Game. Polce finished with 15 points while junior center Jess DeNicola and freshman forward Staci Barrett tossed in 12 apiece. DeNicola also pulled down seven boards.

Junior forward Tori Faieta registered a "double-double" for Stonehill, which has now won six of its last seven, including three straight. Faieta finished with 20 points, 10 in each half, and 11 boards. Pelletier led all scorers with 23 points, while Dixon tossed in 17 and handed out seven assists.

Looking ahead, both teams are on the road this Wednesday for 5:30 pm league contests. Saint Rose travels to Springfield, MA to face American International while Stonehill goes to North Andover, MA for a matchup with Merrimack.
