TAYLOR'S LAST SECOND JUMPER LIFTS SAINT ROSE PAST NEW HAVEN

ALBANY-Freshman guard/forward Jalaun Taylor buried a jumper from the left elbow with 0.9 seconds remaining to propel The College of Saint Rose to a 72-70 victory against visiting Northeast-10 Conference rival New Haven tonight. The game featured six lead changes and a like number of ties, although the Golden Knights (5-5/3-3 NE-10) never trailed throughout the final 22 minutes.

Junior guards Chris Dorgler and Max Weaver scored career-highs of 21 and 17 points respectively to help Saint Rose snap a four-game skid. Taylor finished with nine points and a season-best 12 rebounds.

For New Haven (5-3/2-3 NE-10), sophomore guard Jemal Mosley converted 6-of-12, 3-pointers on the way to a game-high 22 points while senior center Eric Anderson finished with 13. Also, freshman guard Levy Gillespie added 12 points in 26 minutes off the bench.

The Golden Knights were up eight, 64-56, with 6:18 to go before the Chargers accounted for 13 of the game's next 19 points to get to within one, 70-69, with 1:04 remaining. Senior guard/forward Jonny Ocasio scored inside to make it make it a four point contest, 70-66, with 3:10 left and then Mosley drained a trey that snapped a two minute scoring drought by both squads.

Saint Rose came up empty on its next trip up the floor. Anderson then went 1-for-2 from the foul line to deadlock it 70-70 with 18 seconds left, which set the stage for Taylors' heroics as New Haven had to settle for a desperation heave as the final buzzer sounded.

Looking ahead, the Golden Knights will participate in the East Region Classic at Philadelphia University this weekend. They will meet the host Rams Saturday at 1:00 pm, and will face Holy Family Sunday at 1:00 pm as well. Meanwhile, New Haven hosts Bloomfield in a 7:00 pm non-league tilt this Friday.
