MANCHESTER, N.H.–Double digit figures from four different members of the Southern New Hampshire women's basketball team allowed the Penmen to slip past The College of Saint Rose 66-61 Saturday afternoon in a Northeast-10 Conference match up at the SNHU Fieldhouse.
The Golden Knights dropped to 3-5 overall, and 1-4 in the NE-10, while the Penmen improved to 5-6, 2-5.
Senior forward Mariah Lesure put up 16 points and seven rebounds to lead Saint Rose, followed by 11 points from senior guard Jamie Hutcheson. Sophomore forward Staci Barrett led on the boards with 11, and just missed the double-double with nine points.
SNHU got out to a rolling start in the first half as it laid down a 65.4 percent (17-for-26) shooting effort, and held a 43-26 advantage at the half.
The Golden Knights battled back in the second, breaking out of the cooling-off period with a 17-2 run. Despite a hard fought effort from Saint Rose, SNHU shot 13-for-17 from the free throw line, and capitalized on 13 Golden Knights turnovers in the second stanza to secure the win.
