LATE RALLY COMES UP SHORT VERSUS PITT.-JOHNSTOWN

INDIANA, PA-The College of Saint Rose used a late run to get to within five in the final three minutes, but could not get any closer in a 65-56 setback to Pitt.-Johnstown during today's opening round of the IRMC/Urgicare Classic on the campus of Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

The Mountain Cats (5-1) outscored the Golden Knights 17-7 from the free throw line and shot 45.5 percent (10-for-22) from beyond the arc to continue their outstanding start to the 2014-15 campaign.
 
Junior guard Max Weaver and freshman forward Jack Jones scored 12 points each and junior forward Chris Dorgler finished with 11 points, six rebounds and four assists to lead Saint Rose (4-2). Also, freshman forward Jalaun Taylor added nine points and a team-high nine rebounds.
 
Sophomore forward A.J. Leahey paced Pitt.-Johnstown with 16 points and 10 boards.
 
The Golden Knights found themselves down by 13, 58-45, with 3:58 to go when a Taylor put-back off a Dorgler miss sparked a 9-1 spurt. A Jones 3-pointer, two free throws from Weaver, and a Dorgler layup made it a five point, 59-54, ballgame with 2:14 left. However, after the two squads traded baskets, the Mountain Cats made all four of their free throws and forced a Saint Rose turnover down the stretch to seal the win.
 
Looking ahead, the Golden Knights will close out their tournament stay tomorrow with a 4:30 pm date versus the seventh-ranked host Hawks. Meanwhile, Pitt.-Johnstown will face University of the Sciences-Philadelphia at 2:30 pm.
