GOLDEN KNIGHTS SUFFER FIRST LOSS

SYRACUSE-The College of Saint Rose suffered its first loss of the season with today's 66-51 setback at Northeast-10 Conference rival Le Moyne. With the win, the Dolphins (4-0/2-0 NE-10) tied the year-long Upstate Challenge rivalry series 5-5 between the two schools.

The Golden Knights (3-1/1-1 NE-10) were held to 37.0 percent (17-for-46) shooting and their season-low scoring total.

Freshman forward Julian Lipinski tossed in 13 points in 24 minutes off the bench to lead Saint Rose. Senior guard Max Weaver and freshman forward Anthony Russell added nine and eight points respectively.

Meanwhile, senior guard Nate Gause scored 19 of his game-high 28 points in the second half and sophomore forward Stan Buczek finished with 16 for the Dolphins who remained unbeaten on the year.

After Le Moyne jumped out to a 7-0 lead, the Golden Knights clawed back to within a bucket, 13-11, when junior forward Chris Dorgler nailed a 3-pointer with 8:43 to go until halftime. Two minutes later, Lipinski knocked down another trey to make it 17-16 Saint Rose.

However, Buczek answered with a 3-pointer at the other end that ignited a 13-5 Le Moyne run that put the Dolphins up by seven, 29-22, at the break. Gause then opened the second half with a layup and junior guard Qwadere Lovell followed with a fast break bucket that yielded a Le Moyne double-digit lead that it maintained the rest of the way.

Up next, the Golden Knights are home this Tuesday, November 25, with a 7:30 pm game versus conference rival Adelphi. The game may be viewed live on www.gogoldenknights.tv. Meanwhile, the Dolphins have a 7:30 pm non-league road contest at Mansfield on Tuesday.
