SAINT ROSE IMPROVES TO 3-0


PLEASANTVILLE-The College of Saint Rose led wire-to-wire to keep its unblemished record intact with a 61-43 victory in its Notheast-10 Conference opener tonight at Pace. The Golden Knights (3-0/1-0 NE-10) limited the Setters to 24.6 percent (15-for-61) shooting from the floor, including 19.4 percent (7-for-36) from beyond the arc.
 
Junior guard Chris Dorgler recorded career-highs of 11 rebounds and seven assists, in addition to 11 points, to spearhead the Golden Knights (3-0/1-0 NE-10) effort. Also, freshman center Sam Eckstrom scored a team-high 13 points and hauled in six boards while junior guard Max Weaver contributed eight points and a career-best nine rebounds.
 
Freshman guard Evan Gordinier scored 15 points in 28 minutes off the bench and junior guard Shelton Mitchell had 14 points and seven boards to lead the Setters (1-3/0-1 NE-10).
 
Saint Rose put itself in control by outscoring Pace 25-3 throughout a 12 minute stretch late in the first half that transformed a 7-6 lead into a 32-9 advantage. The lead ballooned to as much as 25, 45-20, in the initial five minutes of the second stanza.
 
Up next, the Golden Knights are back on the road Saturday, November 22, with a 3:00 pm NE-10 game at Upstate Challenge rival Le Moyne in Syracuse. Tip-off is set for 3:00 pm. Meanwhile, the Setters will host NE-10 foe New Haven on Saturday at 3:30 pm.
