Box Score

ALBANY-The College of Saint Rose rallied from an eight point second half deficit to upend Northeast-10 Conference rival Saint Michael's 80-75 in overtime this evening at the Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium. The Golden Knights put four players in double-figures for the third time this year and outrebounded the Purple Knights by a 45-39 margin.

Saint Rose outscored Saint Michael's 16-11 in overtime to snap its five game skid. However, the Golden Knights previously appeared to be in control with a 64-61 lead in the waning moments of regulation, but Saint Michael's senior forward Alexa Long drained a 3-pointer from the top of the key at the buzzer to force the extra session.

Senior guard Desiree Simmons went 8-for-11 from the floor and scored 16 of her 22 points after halftime to lead the Golden Knights (9-9/4-8 NE-10). Junior guard Gabie Polce finished with 19 points while freshman forward Staci Barrett posted a "double-double" via 14 points and a season-high 15 rebounds. Junior guard Jamie Hutcheson added a dozen points.

Saint Michael's transformed a two point, 33-31, halftime lead into an eight point, 50-42, cushion after freshman guard Indira Evora hit a pair of free throws with 10:25 left in the second period. Three minutes later, Evora went 1-for-2 from the stripe to make it 51-44 Saint Michael's.

However, Barrett finished inside at the other end to jump start a 13-4 Saint Rose jaunt that put the Golden Knights on top, 57-55, with 4:50 left. Polce finished in the paint and then Simmons converted a pair from the foul line to cap the run. Saint Rose never trailed again.

Long and Evora wound up with 22 points apiece, while junior forward Maggie Sabine added 10 to lead the Saint Michael's effort.

Looking ahead, the Golden Knights have a bye this weekend before heading to Waltham, MA to face conference rival and top-ranked Bentley next Wednesday, January 29. Tip-off is set for 5:30 pm as part of a league doubleheader. Meanwhile, the Purple Knights are back on the hardwood this Saturday, January 25, when they are scheduled to entertain NE-10 foe Pace University in Colchester, VT.
