SAINT ROSE BEGINS SPRING SCHEDULE AGAINST UPSTATE CHALLENGE RIVAL LE MOYNE

Freshman Paige Southwick and the Golden Knights host"Upstate Challenge" rival Le Moyne today at 1:00 pm.

The Plot: The College of Saint Rose opens the spring portion of the 2012-13 schedule with a Northeast-10 Conference match againt "Upstate Challenge" rival Le Moyne. The dual will be played at the University of Albany Bubble.

Last Meeting (4/14/12): Saint Rose closed out its 2011-12 season with a 7-2 setback to Le Moyne.  Senior Jennifer Crego was a part of both points that the Golden Knights earned on the day.  Teaming with Nicole Terribile, the duo downed Caroline Tisdell and junior Kristine Kenny 8-4 in first flight doubles.  Crego faced off against Tisdell again, this time in first flight singles and the former came away with a 6-3, 6-4 win.

Scouting Saint Rose (0-6/0-6 NE-10): The Golden Knights are under the leadership of second year head coach Paul Caron.
Today markes the first meeting of the spring season for Saint Rose as the team has not had a dual meet since Monday, October 8 when the Golden Knights fell 9-0 to Southern New Hampshire.  Crego went 4-2 in first flight singles during the fall portion of the year and now stands with 29 career victories.  Freshman Paige Southwick was also responsible for a singles flight victory in the fall.

Scouting Le Moyne (2-6/1-4 NE-10): The Dolphins picked up a 9-0 non-conference win versus Dominican on Sunday, February 24 to kickoff the spring schedule. Sophomore Margaret LaFleur and freshman Allison Jones are each responsible for three singles victories on the season.  In doubles, Kenny and junior Kelly Falconer have gone 2-3 to pace Le Moyne in the third flight.

Upstate Challenge: Saint Rose currently holds a 6.0-4.0 lead in the 2012-13 "Upstate Challenge" rivalry series against Le Moyne. The Golden Knights picked up a full point each in men's cross country, women's cross country, women's soccer, men's swimming and diving, and women's swimming and diving. The Dolphins have achieved points in men's golf, men's soccer, and women's volleyball. The two instituions split a point in both men's and women's basketball to accumulate the current standings.

Up Next: The Golden Knights begin a stretch of four matches away from home starting Saturday, March 16 at Saint Anselm in Manchester, NH.  Start time is 11:00 am.  Meanwhile, the Dolphins will next compete on Saturday, March 23 at Assumption in Worceter, MA at 12:00 pm.
