Paul Caron

Paul Caron took the reigns as head coach of The College of Saint Rose women’s tennis team in August of 2011. He begin at the helm of a Golden Knights program that was coming off perhaps their best season in history following a trip to the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament.  Caron now enters his second season.

During his first year as head coach, Saint Rose went 4-9 in the combined fall and spring seasons.  Senior Jennifer Crego went 8-5 in singles play under Caron last year, as she returns this this year to lead a group of young individuals.

A USPTR certified tennis teacher, Caron is no stranger to the local tennis scene. He spent three years as chair of the technology department and the girl’s tennis coach at The Albany Academies (2005-07). His tenure culminated with the program’s first section II title in girls tennis. Additionally, Caron still teaches tennis and manages the court facilities on a part-time basis at The Edison Club in Rexford.

Caron also enjoyed a two-year coaching stint at Governor Dummer Academy in Byfield, MA. Prior to that, he was the women’s tennis coach at New Hampshire College (currently Southern New Hampshire University) for five years.

Caron, who retired in 2007 from a career in education that spanned 30 years, owns a doctorate from George Mason University. He received his bachelor’s degree from SUNY Oswego and also has a master’s from SUNY Cortland. He has been the Executive Director of Positive Strokes, Inc., an advisory service for student-athletes seeking college admission, since 1996.
