LAKEWOOD, NJ-The College of Saint Rose outscored host Georgian Court 34-14 from the foul line en route to a 63-54 non-conference win tonight.
Senior guard
Desiree Simmons led the Golden Knights (4-4) in scoring for the fourth straight game with 20 points to go along with six rebounds and four steals. Junior center
Mariah Lesure registered a "double-double" behind 15 points, a season-high 12 boards and five blocks. Also, junior guard
Gabie Polce recorded 13 points and three assists, without a turnover.
Saint Rose never trailed although the Lions were within four, 53-49, with 1:32 to go after junior forward Ashiri Broadwater converted a layup. However, the Golden Knights went 10-for-12 from the free throw stripe the rest of the way to secure victory.
Broadwater wound up with 17 points to lead Georgian Court (1-6).
Looking ahead, both squads are back in action Wednesday. The Golden Knights have a 5:30 pm
Northeast-10 Conference date at Southern Connecticut State in New Haven, while the Lions welcome Adelphi for a 6:00 pm non-league tilt.
