GARDEN CITY, NY-The College of Saint Rose had an early 15 point lead slip away in a 76-68 setback at
Northeast-10 Conference rival Adelphi this evening. The host Panthers (5-0/3-0 NE-10) helped their cause by outrebounding the Golden Knights 24-14 on the offensive glass that led to a 23-13 differential in second chance points.

Desiree Simmons paced the Golden Knights (3-4/1-3 NE-10) in scoring for the third straight game with 21 points while junior guard
Gabie Polce and sophomore guard
Nicole Bini tossed in 11 apiece. Polce also handed out four assists, with only one turnover, and came up with three steals.
Saint Rose jumped out to an 18-3 advantage throughout the opening five and a half minutes, but Adelphi outscored the Golden Knights 37-18 the rest of the way to walk into the locker room up 40-36 at the break.
Polce then finished a layup off a Simmons steal to bring Saint Rose to within a bucket during the initial two minutes of the second period, but the Panthers responded with an 11-4 jaunt that made it a nine point, 51-42, ballgame with 13:23 remaining. Saint Rose managed to get back to within five on two more occasions and were still within seven, 68-61, following a pair of free throws by freshman forward
Staci Barrett with 1:22 showing on the clock.
However, Adelphi went 8-for-10 from the foul line down the stretch to keep its unblemished record intact.
Senior forward Jessica Kitrys registered a "double-double" behind 28 points and 14 rebounds, while senior guard Sade Jackson wound up with 11 points and eight assists for the Panthers.
Looking ahead, the Golden Knights return to action next Monday, December 2 with a 6:00 pm game at Georgian Court University in Lakewood, NJ. Meanwhile, Adelphi has a 1:00 pm date at Millersville University on Sunday.
