SAINT ROSE OPENS 2013-14 HOME SLATE VERSUS BLOOMFIELD

The Golden Knights look to protect home court versus Bloomfield this afternoon at 3:00 pm.

The Plot: The College of Saint Rose welcomes Bloomfield for a non-conference game this afternoon to kickoff the home portion of the 2013-14 home schedule.

Last Meeting (12/15/12): Saint Rose ended the 2012 calendar year with a 55-49 non-conference win at Bloomfield.  The Golden Knights held the Lady Deacons scoreless for the final 5:16 to preserve the victory. Jessica Walton scored a game-high 14 points while junior guard Gabie Polce added eight points, five assists, four steals, and four rebounds. Senior forward Illiriana Lulgjuraj picked up 11 points, 10 in the first half, and three steals for Bloomfield, which forced 30 Saint Rose turnovers and came up with 17 steals.

Scouting Saint Rose (1-2): Today begins a stretch of three straight home games for the Golden Knights. The squad's two losses this season have been by a combined four points. Polce is scoring a team-best 16.0 points per-game while classmate center Mariah Lesure is averaging 11.7 points and 6.0 blocks. The Golden Knights return seven letterwinners this sesason and welcome in six newcomers as Karen Haag enters her 13th season at the helm.  

Scouting Bloomfield (2-1): The Lady Deacons  have won two of three to start the seaon, including Wednesday's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference 65-57 win at Dominican. Senior guard Ivettlis Castro is pacing Bloomfield with a 16.7 scoring average while also adding 2.0 steals per-game. Junior center Tierra Scott is hauling in 11.7 rebounds per-game while contributing 8.7 points. David Caputo is in his first season as head coach for Bloomfield.  

Up Next: Saint Rose welcomes Pace this Wednesday at 5:30 pm for a Northeast-10 Conference meeting. Meanwhile, Bloomfield hosts LIU Post on Saturday, November 23 at 1:00 pm for a non-conference encounter.
