ALBANY - The College of Saint Rose women's tennis team battled in several matches before falling 8-1 to visiting
Northeast-10 Conference rival Merrimack this afternoon.
For the second consecutive day, senior
Jennifer Crego defeated one of the top players in the conference. Avenging a three-set loss from last season, Crego downed sophomore Shakee Messina in three sets 6-3, 1-6, 10-4.
Freshman
Paige Southwick battled in her fourth flight match for the Golden Knights, before falling to senior Mollie Fitzgerald 6-2, 7-5. Also playing well for Saint Rose was sophomore
Lauren Romine who dropped her match to sophomore Rachel Muller 6-3, 6-0.
In first flight doubles, Crego and Romine played a hard-fought match against Messina and Muller before bowing 8-5.
Saint Rose is quickly back in action tomorrow afternoon, hosting Stonehill in a 1:00 pm NE–10 dual. Merrimack is also back in conference action tomorrow, traveling back home to face Franklin Pierce at 12:30 pm in North Andover, MA.
