SAINT ROSE MEETS BENTLEY THIS AFTERNOON

Saint Rose begins the first of three weekend matches this afternoon against Bentley.
Friday, September 28 | 2:30 pm
"The Bubble" at the University of Albany | Albany, NY
Bentley (3-0/3-0) at Saint Rose (0-2/0-2)

The Plot: The College of Saint Rose women's tennis team hosts its first match of the season as the Golden Knights welcome Bentley University at 2:30 pm in a Northeast-10 Conference match at the University of Albany Bubble. The dual had originally been scheduled for a 3:00 pm start at Kelton Courts.

Last Meeting (4/7/12): Saint Rose suffered a 8-1 setback during last season's spring portion of the schedule.

Senior Jennifer Crego and Erin Reeg were just narrowly defeated 8-6 in the first doubles match by seniors Paulina Sotomayor and Rachel Litton.   Crego did come away with the lone point of the day for Saint Rose, earning the point during the first singles flight behind wins of 6-0 and 7-5 against Sotomayor.

Scouting Saint Rose (0-2/0-2 NE-10): The Golden Knights are under the leadership of second year head coach Paul Caron. On the court, Crego leads the way. Crego enters Friday with a 2-0 singles record after earning number one singles flight victories against New Haven and Saint Michael's. Freshman Paige Southwick picked up her first collegiate victory last Saturday in a 6-2, 6-4 victory at New Haven.

Scouting Bentley (3-0/3-0 NE-10): The Falcons have chalked up 9-0 wins at Franklin Pierce and Le Moyne and at home versus Assumption. Senior Rachel Litton advanced to the Round of 16 at the ITA Championships last weekend, playing in the "B" singles tournament. Tuesday's win versus Assumption gave head coach Alex Wong his 100th career victory.

Up Next: Saint Rose is quickly back in action tomorrow afternoon, hosting Merrimack for a 1:00 pm NE-10 dual.  Meanwhile, Bentley returns home for a match against New Haven this upcoming Thursday, October 4.  The dual is scheduled to begin at 3:00 pm.
