SYRACUSE, NY – The College of Saint Rose closed out their 2011-12 season with a 7-2 setback against
Northeast-10 Conference rival Le Moyne in the latest installment of the
Upstate Challenge.
Junior
Jennifer Crego was a part of both points that the Golden Knights earned on the day. Teaming with fellow junior
Nicole Terribile the duo downed senior Caroline Tisdell and sophomore Kristine Kenny 8-4 in first flight doubles.
Crego would face off against Tisdell again, this time in first flight singles and the former came away with a 6-3, 6-4 win.
In a match that was closer than the final score indicated, the Golden Knights also got solid performances in third and fourth flight singles. In the third flight match, freshman
Caitlin Beebe battled after dropping the first set before bowing to freshman Jess Geary 6-0, 6-4.
In the fourth flight match, Terribile and freshman Margaret LaFleur battled to one of the best matches of the season for either team. The first set went to a tiebreaker with Terribile prevailing 7-6 (7-4). LaFleur would then come back to win the second set 6-3. In the third set, the two players once again battled to a 6-6 set to force a tiebreaker. This time it was LaFleur who triumphed, winning the tiebreaker 10-3 and claiming the set 7-6.
The match wrapped up the Golden Knights 2011-12 season. Saint Rose concludes the year at 4-9 both overall and in the NE-10.
