Box Score

SYRACUSE – The College of Saint Rose was unable to hold onto a 12 point halftime lead in a 71-67 setback at Northeast-10 Conference and Upstate Challenge rival Le Moyne tonight. The Dolphins shot 58.3 percent (14-for-24) from the floor in the second half and turned 21 Saint Rose turnovers into 23 points throughout the evening.

Freshman guard Tyler Hansen tossed in a game-high 23 points on 6-for-9 shooting from the arc to lead the Golden Knights (2-2/0-2 NE-10). Senior forward Jessica Walton and sophomore center Mariah Lesure both wound up with “double-doubles”. Walton had 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Lesure finished with 10 points and 13 caroms. Furthermore, freshman guard Nicole Bini contributed 13 points and nine boards.

As for the Dolphins (2-1/1-1 NE-10), sophomore guard Alex Marple scored 17 points while sophomore forward Emily Greer and senior guard Torie Lee added 12 each. Junior guard Maddy McKnight finished with 11 points and five assists.

After Hansen drained a 3-pointer at the onset of the second half to make it 42-30 Saint Rose, Le Moyne took off on a 23-8 jaunt that put the Dolphins on top 53-50 with 7:55 to go. A conventional three point play by Hansen followed by two Walton layups then put the Golden Knights back up by four, 57-53, with 6:58 showing on the clock.

However, Greer answered at the other end and freshman guard Maggie Brown drained a pair of free throws that tied it 57-57 with 5:13 left. It subsequently remained a one possession game until Greer put the Dolphins ahead to stay, 64-63, after she drained one from long range with 1:11 to go. The Dolphins then went 7-for-8 from the foul line down the stretch and held Saint Rose to only one field goal the rest of the way to complete the comeback.

Looking ahead, the Golden Knights have a week off for the Thanksgiving holiday before returning home next Wednesday, November 28 to host NE-10 rival Adelphi. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 pm. Meanwhile, the Dolphins are back on the hardwood this Sunday, November 25 with a 5:30 pm non-league date at NYIT in Old Westbury.
