SAINT ROSE IMPROVES TO 2-0

FLUSHING, NY – The College of Saint Rose came back from a one point halftime deficit to upend Concordia College 57-52 in the second day of action of the Queens College Tip-Off Tournament that was held at Townsend Harris High School this afternoon. Saint Rose manufactured a 59-40 advantage off the boards, including a 26-20 differential on the offensive glass that led to 16 second chance points.

Freshman guard Nicole Bini led the Golden Knights (2-0) with 16 points and nine rebounds. Sophomore forward Mariah Lesure wound up with 12 points, nine boards and six blocks in just 16 minutes off the bench.

Senior forward Krystina Agard had 15 points and nine rebounds and senior guard Sade Jones tossed in 16 points and came up with five steals to pace the Clippers (0-2).

Saint Rose took the lead for good thanks to an 8-0 run with 10:49 remaining in the game. Bini finished inside and drained a 3-pointer, senior forward Maria Sanchez Gonzalez hit a free throw and then fellow senior forward Jessica Walton capped it with a jumper.

Concordia got it back to within a bucket, 49-47, with 7:21 remaining, but the Golden Knights responded with eight unanswered points to seal the final outcome.

Saint Rose will play its 2012-13 home-opener this Wednesday, November 14, as part of a Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader. Tip-off is set for 5:30 pm.
