#9 SAINT ROSE STEPS AWAY FROM NE-10 SCHEDULE TONIGHT

Saint Rose is set to host Mercy College at 5:30 pm tonight
ALBANY - The College of Saint Rose women's soccer team steps away from its Northeast-10 Conference schedule tonight when the Golden Knights (8-0-1) host Mercy College (1-6-0) at 5:30 pm at Sullivan Field. Saint Rose has chalked up four shutouts in a row, including a 2-0 triumph at American International College on Saturday.

Last Meeting (September 6, 2010)
Saint Rose upended Mercy College 7-0 in a non-league affair on Labor Day last year at Sullivan Field. The Golden Knights scored four times throughout a 15:06 span early in the second period to break open a 3-0 game at the break.

Saint Rose controlled the pace throughout and wound up outshooting the Mavericks by a 27-1 margin. The Golden Knights also produced 11 corner kicks, and yielded only one.

Sophomore forward Carmelina Puopolo had two goals and an assist to lead the Saint Rose scoring parade. Senior midfielder Brittany Godin also tallied twice while being credited with the eventual game-winner. Senior forward Nicola D'Errico found the back of the net later in the match as did Amanda Deck and senior midfielder Kimberly Morton.

SCOUTING #9 SAINT ROSE (8-0-1)
The Golden Knights were ranked #9 in last week's NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division II Poll. Saint Rose possesses a potent scoring offense to go along with a defense that has registered four straight shutouts heading into today. The Golden Knights are averaging a league-best 4.33 goals per-game and have outscored their opponents by a 39-3 margin thus far.

Freshman forward Brittany Barry leads a balanced attack that has seen 16 players find the scoring column. Barry, sophomore midfielder Sydney Bond and Puopolo are 1-2-3 in the the NE-10 in goals and points. Barry leads the league behind 11 goals and 23 points, Puopolo has seven strikes and 16 points, while Bond has chalked up six markers and 14 points.

Sophomore keeper Jessica Gerski anchors the third-ranked scoring defense in the conference with a 0.44 goals-against-average to go with 24 saves throughout nine starts in goal.

SCOUTING MERCY (1-6-0)
The Mavericks have played an ambitious schedule thus far. Tonight marks the fourth time this year Mercy will take on a ranked opponent (Franklin Pierce, Saint Leo, Bridgeport). The Mavericks are coming off of a slim 2-1 loss at East Stroudsburg on Saturday.

Freshman forward Chaz'ani Douglas, sophomore back Caitlin McKenna and junior midfielder Viridiana Ortega have provided the scoring output thus far with one goal each. Meanwhile, freshman netminder Krystal Guerrero has played all 609 minutes in goal. She has 41 saves and a shutout.

UP NEXT
Both teams return to action Saturday. Saint Rose resumes its Northeast-10 Conference slate with a 2:30 pm date versus Stonehill. Meanwhile, Mercy is scheduled to host St. Thomas Aquinas at noon.
