ALBANY, NY – The College of Saint Rose women's tennis team was dealt a tough 6-3 loss to the visiting Saint Anselm Hawks.
Saint Rose saw a pair of players run their singles record to 2-0 on the season in the match. In the first flight, junior
Jennifer Crego forced a first set tiebreaker before topping Alexandra Lawrence 7-6 (7-1), 6-1. At #4, junior
Nicole Terribile earned a win against Rachel Pedro 6-4, 6-2.
The Golden Knights also gained a point at third flight doubles where juniors Terribile and
Sarah Klein defeated Pedro and April Regan 8-4.
Saint Rose was edged out in a pair of matches that could have swung the tide the other way as in first flight doubles, Crego and senior
Erin Reeg forced their match to go an extra game before falling to Lawrence and Amanda Brahm 9-7. At #6 singles, Klein battled Regan to the final shot before falling 8-6.
Next up for the Golden Knights is a date on Saturday, October 1 against Saint Michael's at 11 a.m. at Kelton Courts. Saint Anselm gets no rest as they head west on the New York Thruway to take on Le Moyne in Syracuse tomorrow at 11 a.m.
